Note: Nevada charges $60 for a statement of change under NRS 77.280(1)(a), and NRS 77.340 is the section that authorises the filing. File online through SilverFlume under Miscellaneous Filings, or by mail or in person. The new registered agent must sign a certificate of acceptance, which NRS 77.310(2) requires as part of the same filing. Mail and in-person filings go to Commercial Recordings, Paul Laxalt Building, 401 North Carson Street, Carson City NV 89701-4069, where walk-ins are accepted; a second office is at 70 E. Bonneville Ave, Las Vegas NV 89101. Include a Customer Order Form, and an ePayment Checklist if paying by card. Note the main Secretary of State office at 101 North Carson Street is a different building and is not where this filing goes.

How to change your registered agent in Nevada

  1. Choose your new registered agent first. Do not file the change form until you have a new agent lined up. The new agent has to consent to the appointment, and most states will not process the change without that consent in hand. If you let coverage lapse, the Nevada SOS can administratively dissolve your LLC.

    Two ways to go. Name yourself or someone you know. Nothing to pay beyond the state filing fee above, but your address goes in the public record and somebody has to be there during business hours to accept legal mail.

  2. Get the Registered Agent Acceptance/Statement of Change. Download the form ↗ You can file this online through the Nevada Secretary of State portal. The form requires your LLC name, the new agent name and address, and a signature. The new agent must consent to the appointment.
  3. Pay the $60 filing fee. Pay by credit card during the online filing. A small processing surcharge usually applies. Mail filings accept check or money order; confirm the exact payee on the form before you send it, because it is not the Secretary of State in every state.
  4. Notify your old agent. Once the change is processed, your old agent's responsibility ends. If you are paying them an annual fee, cancel that subscription so it does not auto-renew. Most agents do not refund the unused portion, so time the cancellation against your renewal date.
  5. Verify the change in state records. Search your LLC name on the Nevada SOS business search and confirm the new registered agent is listed. Check back after the processing window shown above.

Important to know about Nevada

  • The new registered agent must sign the form before submission. Online filers upload the signed form as supporting documentation.
  • Nevada sells tiered expedited service, and NRS 225.140(2) sets these as maximums the Secretary of State may charge rather than fixed prices: up to $125 within 24 hours, $500 within 2 hours and $1,000 within 1 hour. Routine mail processing is typically 1-2 weeks.
  • Mail filings require a Customer Order Form and, for credit card payments, an ePayment Checklist alongside the change form.
