On 13 August 2026 it was working paper Business Registry filings received on 4 August, about nine calendar days behind, and listed online filings at 1 to 3 business days under a heading that reads New and Renewal. Note: Oregon charges no fee to change the registered agent. File the Information Change Form online through the Oregon Business Registry (the same portal used for annual reports), or by mail or fax to the Oregon Secretary of State Corporate Division. Online filings update immediately - mail can take 6-8 weeks. The new registered agent must consent to the appointment, but the consent does not need to be filed separately. You can also update the registered agent for free during your annual report Post or fax to the Secretary of State Corporation Division, 255 Capitol St. NE Suite 151, Salem OR 97310-1327, fax (503) 378-4381, or use the counter at the same address. No cheque is needed because the filing is free; where a fee is due the payee is "Corporation Division". (domestic LLC $100/year, foreign LLC $275/year), but the change-of-agent form by itself is free.

How to change your registered agent in Oregon

Choose your new registered agent first.
Do not file the change form until you have a new agent lined up. The new agent has to consent to the appointment, and most states will not process the change without that consent in hand. If you let coverage lapse, the Oregon SOS can administratively dissolve your LLC.
Two ways to go. Name yourself or someone you know. Nothing to pay beyond the state filing fee above, but your address goes in the public record and somebody has to be there during business hours to accept legal mail.

You can file this online through the Oregon Secretary of State portal. The form requires your LLC name, the new agent name and address, and a signature. The new agent must consent to the appointment.

Pay the Free filing fee.
Oregon does not charge a state filing fee for this change. The only cost is what you pay your new registered agent.

Notify your old agent.
Once the change is processed, your old agent's responsibility ends. If you are paying them an annual fee, cancel that subscription so it does not auto-renew. Most agents do not refund the unused portion, so time the cancellation against your renewal date.

Verify the change in state records.
Search your LLC name on the Oregon SOS business search and confirm the new registered agent is listed. Check back after the processing window shown above.
Important to know about Oregon
- Oregon is one of the easiest states for this filing: free and online. It is not instant, though. Oregon publishes 1 to 3 business days for online Business Registry filings.
- The new agent must have a physical Oregon street address. P.O. boxes, commercial mail receiving agencies, mail-forwarding businesses, and virtual offices are all prohibited.
- Mail is slower but not by months. Oregon posts a live processed-through date for the mail and fax queue, which in mid August 2026 sat about nine calendar days behind receipt, and it asks you to allow 7 to 10 days for postal delivery on top. Check the delivery options page for the current date rather than relying on a stored figure.
