How to order it

  1. Clear any past-due filings first. The Missouri SOS will not issue a certificate while you have unpaid tax or an unfiled report. The state-specific requirements are in the points below.
  2. Order it online. Search your LLC in the Missouri portal, request the certificate, and download it. Link in the table above.
  3. Pay the $10 fee. Pay by card at checkout. A small card surcharge usually applies.
  4. Use it inside the recipient's window. The certificate has no state expiration, but banks and other states usually want one dated within the last 30 to 90 days. Order it close to when you need it.

Missouri prices the Certificate of Good Standing at $10, but not equally by channel: paying online by card adds 2 per cent plus $0.25 and an e-check adds $0.50, while cash, cheque and ACH carry no extra charge. So the same certificate is $10 by post and $10.45 online by card. Order through the Business Services Division system at bsd.sos.mo.gov, or by post, email, fax, phone or in person. Online certificates carry a verification number a third party can check. Missouri publishes no turnaround for either channel. A separate Certificate of Fact is $25, and a Tax Clearance Certificate is free from the Department of Revenue.

Important to know about Missouri

  • Missouri LLCs do NOT file annual reports at all (unlike Missouri corporations, which do). Good standing depends on maintaining a registered agent and not being administratively cancelled. This is unusual enough that foreign-qualification checklists sometimes incorrectly assume an annual report exists.
  • Paying online adds a portal convenience fee rather than a flat charge: 2% plus $0.25 on a credit card, or $0.50 by electronic check. On the $10 certificate that is $10.45 by card or $10.50 by e-check. Paying by check through the mail, or by ACH, carries no extra charge.
  • Missouri LLC formation fees ARE different by filing method ($50 online / $105 mail), but the Certificate of Good Standing fee is $10 across all methods. Do not confuse formation pricing with certificate pricing.
